Faculty Delegation from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Visits Tsinghua University.

On May 13, Associate Professor Manoj Lohatepanont, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, along with Professor Kasem Choocharukul, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Saksith Chalermpong, Director of the Transportation Research Institute, and over 50 faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering and the Transportation Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University, visited the School of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University for academic exchange.

At the beginning of the event, Professor Pan Peng, representing the School of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Chulalongkorn University. He remarked that as a shining gem of higher education in Thailand, the Department of Civil Engineering at Chulalongkorn University has achieved fruitful results in fields such as structural engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation, and sustainable construction, making significant contributions to Thailand's infrastructure development and the advancement of civil engineering on the international stage. He also expressed the hope that the friendship and future collaboration between the two universities would flow forward ceaselessly, like the waters of the Yangtze River and the Chao Phraya River. Meanwhile, he introduced the basic information, development history, and disciplinary construction of the college to the attending guests, highlighting recent innovative research achievements in civil engineering, particularly in urban safety, low-carbon environmental protection, and smart construction. These research accomplishments, grounded in national strategic needs, demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of China's civil engineering discipline in the modern era.

Professor Kasem Choocharukul, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception from the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University and expressed hope that this visit would further deepen cooperation between the two institutions in the field of civil engineering and jointly promote disciplinary development. The delegation members provided a detailed introduction to the teaching and research capabilities of the Department of Civil Engineering at their university. The Department of Civil Engineering at Chulalongkorn University has distinctive strengths in areas such as transportation engineering, urban planning, and sustainable development, and has achieved numerous innovative outcomes, particularly in infrastructure construction, intelligent transportation systems, and disaster prevention and response.
