Team‑Building: CIB Tsinghua Student Chapter’s Xiangshan Field Trip

In September, the Graduate Youth League Committee and the CIB Tsinghua Student Chapter jointly organized an educational visit and group outing to Xiangshan. Bringing together domestic graduate students as well as international participants from the ICPM program — a programme closely affiliated with the CIB Tsinghua Student Chapter — this event offered chapter members a well‑rounded experience that combined historical‑cultural learning, outdoor team‑building, and cross‑cultural academic and social exchange.

During the visit, chapter members explored historical exhibitions and archival documents from which they gained valuable insights into modern Chinese history. This experience brought a fresh cultural dimension to their internationally‑oriented construction‑management research.

Following the museum visit, chapter participants hiked through Xiangshan Park — a time‑honoured imperial garden and national 4A‑level tourist attraction celebrated for its natural scenery and iconic red maple foliage. As they trekked toward Xianglu Peak (575 m above sea‑level), CIB student members demonstrated teamwork and mutual support, with everyone proceeding at their own pace amid the beautiful natural surroundings.

As part of the global CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction) network, the CIB Tsinghua Student Chapter functions as a local chapter dedicated to advancing international academic exchange, knowledge sharing and collaborative research within construction engineering and management. This Xiangshan activity served as one of the chapter’s signature off‑campus events. Bringing together domestic and international chapter members, it enabled cross‑cultural dialogue, allowing overseas students to engage directly with Chinese history and culture — complementing the chapter’s regular academic seminars and research workshops. Such socio‑cultural activities strengthen community cohesion inside the local CIB student chapter and align with CIB’s global vision for inclusive, cross‑border research communities in the built‑environment sector.
