2018 Tsinghua Summer School for International Construction

The goal of the Tsinghua Summer School for International Construction is to present a prestigious annual event that contributes to the construction education domain, as well as, facilitate mutual understanding between Chinese and international students and industry practitioners.

The target audience includes industry practitioners, undergraduate students, and postgraduate students from around the globe who are interested in construction, engineering, and management.


The Tsinghua Summer School for International Construction has been conducted with great success since 2007. In 2018, about 50 students will have an opportunity to benefit from this program. 

Instructors are invited from different parts of the world having uniquely different educational and professional expertise. 


2. Courses and Visits

 

2.1 Course Outline

The 2018 Tsinghua summer school course will cover hot topics in international construction, such as: global and Chinese construction industry and market, construction contract bidding, bench marking, ination and communication technology, and safety and risk management.


Summer school students will have the opportunity to interact with both domestic and international students, professors and industry practitioners. Historical site visits such as the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven will also be arranged. In addition, there will also be a free day for the students to explore other points of interest in and around Beijing.


2.2 Language

The program will be delivered in English.


2.3 Certificate

Upon completion of the program, each student will be presented with a certificate from Tsinghua Summer School for International Construction 2018 issued by Tsinghua University.


3. Details

3.1 Accommodation

Accommodation at Green Tree Inn will be provided for students in this program. Two students will share one standard room. The hotel is well-located near Tsinghua campus within easy reach to all modes of public transportation. Various tourist attractions are nearby, such as Summer Palace, Yuan Ming Yuan Park, etc. The very exciting Wudaokou commercial district is located between Green Tree Inn and the campus. Appealing shopping, eating and drinking establishments are located within close proximity. Additionally, Beijing metro line No.13 provides convenient access for exploring other parts of Beijing.

 

3.2 Canteen

Students will be provided smart cards at registration. With this card, students may dine at over 10 campus canteens featuring a wide-range of tastes at low cost.

The deadline for registration is May 31, 2018. The full registration fee is USD 1,100. The fee includes accommodation (fully furnished room with air-conditioning, internet connection, and basic electric appliances), arranged city tours, farewell dinner, and certificate of completion. Students are responsible for cost of travel, personal insurance, and any other additional personal expenses.  For CIB individual members or CIB member affiliates, the registration fee is USD 990.
