Department of Construction Management was ally established in April 2000, while the construction group at Tsinghua University was originated in 1953 as a division in the Department of Civil Engineering. Currently the department consists of four teaching and research institutes, namely, Institute of Engineering Management, Institute of Real Estate Studies, Institute of Sustainable Urbanization, and Institute of Project Management and Construction Technology, and several joint research and training centers including Institute of International Engineering Project Management, (Tsinghua-Gammon) Construction Safety Research Center, Tsinghua Hang Lung Center for Real Estate, Surety Bonds Research Center, Center for Urbanization and Industrial Development, IIEPM Training Center, and Institute for Future Cities and Infrastructures.
